Suicidal Teens

A survey was conducted in curie about suicidal teens, students were asked if they thought suicidal teens should be hospitalized? 90% percent of students agreed that suicidal teens should be hospitalized.



1.Do suicidal teens have to follow up after leaving a mental hospital?



Suicide attempts are a very serious and delicate issue. Not only is the teen who attempted it under a lot of pressure and stress yet so are their loved ones. Both have to cope with the anxiety ans stress this might bring. Loved ones must be patient and understanding, while their teen is coping with the stress of returning to their regular routine. Life is not the same for either the teen or their family. the family must be very attentive and careful for any sighs of a potential relapse. Families must maintain a peaceful/quiet environment for the teen to cope stress free. Anyone recovering from a suicide attempt must follow up on therapy and any medications prescribed. Family members must show their up most support and love in order to guide their teen back to a healthy regular life.

2. How much time in a mental hospital is required/sufficient for a teen who has attempted suicide?



For young kids/adolescents  it is more alarming when the try to commit suicide. For each patient it is different, all patients are going threw different struggles. It is common to hospitalize adolescents for attempt at suicide because of how compulsive they are compared to adults, they require more attention and care. Depending on their case determines on how long the child is hospitalized yet often times teens require longer observation. It is important they take therapy and follow up with their doctors and any prescribed medications.

3. Is depression/suicidal thought permanent?

Depression is a clinical mental issue, which people have low control over. Not all people with depression have suicidal thoughts. Suicide is referred to as a "permanent solution to a temporary problem". Depression does carry the risk of suicide yet these urges can be controlled with therapy and professional help. Both suicidal thoughts and depression can be treated and controlled.

4. Is life harder for people who have depression or have attempted suicide?


Life is hard for people with depression, everyday is a constant challenge dealing with strong emotions. Even more so of a struggle for people who attempt suicide. There is always a risk of a relapse. People with depression or suicidal thoughts need constant support and treatment. Depression can be controlled and allow people to live regular lives.

5. Can you have depression and not know?


Depression is more common than known. Some people have depression and may not realize, in either case depression can be treated. There are plenty of different types and levels of depression, yet not all people with depression are suicidal. you are more likely to experience depression if someone in you're family has been diagnosed with depression before.
